CAD Laboratory

The CAD Laboratory is a central facility of the institute where all undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members- can work with the sophisticated 2-D & 3-D design and analysis software. They can learn to use the latest software and carry out their research work. The CAD Laboratory has a total number of 30 computers (desktops and workstations) with the latest configurations connected with a high-end server through switched networking.
Most of the software have been acquired with a good number of user licenses to meet the needs of a large number of students and researchers. The Laboratory is kept open from morning till night for the benefit of the users. Internet facility is also available in the laboratory for the better use of the software by the high end users.

Strength of Materials Lab
The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments. In this lab the experiments are performed to measure the properties of the materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness, ductility etc.

Universal testing machine, Torsion testing machine, Impact testing machine, Erichsen sheet metal testing machine, Brinell hardness testing machine, Rockwell hardness testing machine, Winch crab, Screw Jack etc.

Surveying Laboratory

The Surveying Laboratory is equipped with the instruments and tools that students use throughout the surveying course. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments and demonstrate their proficiency on weekly lab exercises and a comprehensive semester project and final exam. Each lab group – typically three students – has a dedicated set of instruments to use, including auto level, theodolite, and total station. Each group also has level rods, tripods, tape measures, chaining pins, and other common surveying tools and ancillary equipment. The lab serves as office space for the surveying instructor and teaching assistants, so surveying students have direct access to help for material discussed in lecture and lab.

Applied Hydraulics Laboratory

This lab introduces students practical knowledge of behaviour of fluids which they are earlier studied by using mathematical equations. It involves study of various properties of the fluid, such as velocity, pressure, density and temperature, as functions of space and time. Fluid mechanics is the branch of physics which deals with the properties of fluids, namely liquids and gases, and their interaction with forces. The lab is equipped with different flow measuring set-ups such as venturimeter, orifice-plate, Pitot tube, rotometer etc., where students can visualize the basic theory of working of the flow meter. The lab also has Reynolds’s setup, free-forced vortices setup, and flow over open channel and impact of jet set-up, where students can fortify their theoretical knowledge. The lab also has some advanced research set-up such as constant temperature hot-wire anemometer, pulsating flow meter, where some advanced research work can be performed.
